Meet Nathan Bleeke, DO

A FEW WORDS FROM Nathan…

My name is Nathan Bleeke and I was born and raised on the northwest side of Indianapolis; graduated from Zionsville High School in 2009. I continued my education at Purdue University in West Lafayette and graduated in 2013 with two Bachelors Degrees in Science in chemistry and environmental Geoscience.  During my time at Purdue, I participated in various research and teaching opportunities to try to help me decide which career path I wanted to take. Medicine had always interested me and so I applied to med school and was fortunate and blessed to be accepted to Marian University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.

I started med school in the summer of 2014 and finished in the summer of 2018. My osteopathic training has had a large influence on how I practice as a physician. The osteopathic model is based on incorporating a mind, body and spirit approach as well as considering the body’s natural ability to heal itself.  I learned all the traditional medicine training in addition to 400 extra hours of osteopathic manipulation that I look forward to continuing in my future practice.

Primary care interested me from the start of medical school and after clinical rotations I decided family medicine was the field I wanted to pursue. I started my post graduate training at St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Residency in July of 2018.  I enjoyed the rigorous curriculum at St. Vincent and feel that my experiences in residency were invaluable to my continued growth as a family physician.

My personal interests in medicine include diabetes management, cardiology, women’s health, pediatrics and osteopathic manipulation. My wife and I live on the southside of Indianapolis. My wife works as a physician’s assistant in interventional radiology at Community South. She is due with our first child in February 2021. We attend Traders Point Christian Church’s downtown campus. We have a loving but ornery pug named Pippa that brings us lots of joy and laughs. In my free time, I enjoy golfing, weight lifting, cheering on the Boilermakers and visiting national parks.
