“Visits from Heaven” by Pete Deison
Dr. Lisa summer reading continues…
This is a terrific book for anyone who simply wants to learn more about heaven, and especially for anyone facing death or grieving after a loved one’s death. Thank you Glen for suggesting it to me! I am so thankful I read it over spring break and shared my underlined highlights of the book for an hour with Alfega 3 weeks before she passed to heaven. We were Bible study and prayer partners here on earth, and I know she is still my prayer partner in heaven. It is absolutely wonderful to still be praying together forever!
Pete is a minister who lost his wife Harriet in her late 60’s to a sudden suicide, December 29, 2012. He shares amazing insights into his visits from heaven and grieving. Pete and friends have visits from his wife in many ways and directly knows she is still his prayer partner, with such extra power form heaven! After she died, several people he knew were soon to die also and he asked them to ask her questions in heaven if God and Jesus would allow. Pete relates direct answers he and friend received to answer those questions!
From the back cover: Visits from Heaven is a beautiful love story of a man and his wife that quickly becomes a reflection of God’s love for his children. The narrative of strange coincidences, amazing answers to prayer, and dozens of dreams Pete and others have had of Harriet after her death help answer our continual and deeply important questions:
- Is heaven a place where real life continues?
- Will I enjoy it, or is it all clouds, pearly gates, and long church services?
- What are heaven’s residents like?
- Do they know what’s happening on earth?
Visits from Heaven answer those questions and more, presenting readers with a clearer picture of what life is like for a believer after he or she leaves the earth. It also provides a grief manual for those who have been left behind.
Deeply grounded in Scripture and works of writers such as C. S. Lewis, Pete Deison shares biblical truths and his incredible new view of life, death, and our heavenly home. Join Pete in his discover of unexpected comfort in the face of grief and his realization that visits from heaven are not just possible but occur more regularly than we know.
