Oil Pulling in the Shower!
Coconut oil has a number of health benefits because of its healing, hydrating, and antimicrobial properties. Oil pulling with coconut oil can have a detoxifying effect on the body by removing bacteria in the mouth. When you neutralize and remove toxins before they enter the body, your body’s total inflammation is reduced. This reduces the occurrence of disease and illness.
For everyone old enough to swish 1/2 – 1 teaspoon of coconut oil in the bath or shower daily, I recommend it! (Coconut oil quickly becomes liquid in your mouth.) This technique is called oil pulling and has so many great oral health benefits.
Do this for 10-20 minutes daily as a part of your overall hygiene and prevention of illness. (For best results, do this for 20 minutes and do not swallow the oil because you will swallow the germs and toxins you are trying to get rid of!) Once you are done, spit out (in a trash bag or toilet if you are worried about clogging your sink drains) the oil and rinse your mouth.
You may do this anytime, but shower or bath time is a convenient place to remember daily. Some people find it benefits them to do this first thing in the morning to fight candida and bad breath germs!
After oil pulling at least 3-4 times per week this past year, my teeth are noticeably whiter by my dental hygienist and I have at least 75% less plaque build-up! I am SO thrilled and thankful, because I do not like the plaque scraping at my every 6 month dentist visits!
Keep a jar of coconut oil beside your sink to remember. It is also very healing for our skin, and read my other articles 30 Spring & Summer Uses for Coconut Oil! & New & Expecting Mothers: 30 Handy Uses for Coconut Oil to learn the many other uses of coconut oil!
