Functional Medicine Extended Visits
We are pleased to announce extended office visits for our patients who wish to receive our great functional medicine knowledge.
What is Functional Medicine?
Functional medicine is a patient-oriented approach to medicine with a focus on helping you to feel well and looking for underlying causes to prevent illness—not just treating you when you are sick. Functional medicine providers take extra time with patients to listen to their history and symptoms and look at the interactions between genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that influence long-term health to create treatment plans that WORK, not just prescribe more pills.
Of total healthcare costs in the United States, more than 75% is due to chronic problems & these are rising.
The key to reversing the rapidly spreading epidemic of chronic disease is to address the underlying causes and solutions. The cause is often primarily a result of lifelong interactions of genetics, environment, and lifestyle choices.
Conventional health care is rooted in an acute-care model focused on rapid diagnosis while using long-term pharmaceutical interventions.
Functional medicine is a model for health care that focuses on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of chronic disease and then providing custom treatment for you as an individual to prevent and/or reverse chronic disease.
What does it cost?
The functional medicine consult is just $97 and payment is due at the time of service. Functional and holistic medicine consults are not covered by insurance. With the changes in healthcare and insurance this year, we can no longer bill extended visits. We will continue to bill all services that are billable to your insurance plan including regular office visits and you will get a bill for anything that is your insurance provider concludes is your portion.
How does it work?
This is an optional service. If you do not want an extended functional medicine visit, we are happy to see you in a traditional manner. You will not receive the longer appointment. Patients must decide if they want this service at the time of scheduling the appointment.
The following conditions typically require a functional medicine visit:
- Complex and/or Multiple problems and diagnoses
- Bio Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy
- In-Depth Laboratory Testing (including HDL, Boston Heart, Genova, Neuroscience, Igenex, etc.)
- Food Allergy & Sensitivity Testing
- Alternative Vaccine Schedules
