Travel with Celiac Disease & Type 1 Diabetes
Instagrammed by Dr. Lisa, arranged and posted for you here by Amber W.
When traveling with Celiac disease or glutenfree due to a sensitivity, you must plan ahead.
1. Pack Gluten-free, Healthy Snacks
✓ Google or Bing or find an app to look up restaurants in the area you are traveling too
✓ Pack GF GoPicnics,
✓ Pack peanut / sunflower/ or almond butter, & apples (Don’t forget something to slice up your apple pieces!)
✓ Make some of my GF granola,
We also packed Udi bread & some other snacks!
2. Being Prepared with Kits
We pack all essentials in an insulated lunch bag with a freeze pack.
3. Stay Hydrated
Stay hydrated especially in the heat!
Start with 1-2 big glasses of water before going out and keep drinking.
We all had water and salad bar only. We had to be about the healthiest eating family of the day!
4. Plan Outings Ahead – Find Fab Restaurants with GF Options
Silver Beach Pizza (410 Vine St) – the best gluten – free (and regular) pizza ever per all my kids (2 with Celiac) and us!
They even have GF garlic bread, bruschetta, calzones, & spinach artichoke.
It’s worth the 3.5 hr drive from Indy.
My Christina almost cried, saying she thought she would never have great pizza again (since she has Celiac disease too).
